November 5, 2017: Wornick/PJ Library Preschool Academy - Sharing Stone Soup and Stories

This event saw preschool aged children cutting their own vegetables, creating shapes out of playdough, and painting with vegetables. 1st grade teacher Karen Wagshul then entertained the group with her reading of Stone Soup. Wornick 8th graders helped with the activities too. Then everyone enjoyed yummy soup made by Wornick’s very own Chef Rachel, and got to take home recipes they could make at home! October 15, 2017: Wornick/PJ Library Preschool Academy - Harvest Festival with Isaac Zones

The first Preschool Academy of 2017 was a hit! Fall-themed art and a sukkah building station were a lot of fun. Then came musician Isaac Zones with entertaining songs that got everyone moving, singing, and dancing with scarves. He even got Kindergarten teachers Adam King and Adeelee Fox in on the action. We finished up with snacks in the Sukkah Wornick’s PTO built! Check out the photos!

September 26, 2017: Learn About the Science of Viral Behavior with Lee Daniel Kravetz, Author of Strange Contagion

Wornick Jewish Day School was pleased to host author Lee Daniel Kravetz, author of Strange Contagion. The talk was based on his book, a moving account of one community's suicide tragedy and a rigorous investigation of social phenomenon, as Kravetz unlocks the mystery of how ideas spread, why they take hold, and offers thoughts on our responsibility to one another as citizens of a globally connected world. Thank you to Family & Children’s Services and Children’s Health Council for joining us and providing additional resources. To view the video of the event, please click here.

"Wornick is more than a school. Wornick is a place that encourages children to thrive, grow, and give back, a place where families connect and care, a place where teachers do so much more than just teach. Wornick is a community -- a place that creates a sense of belonging, a place one is always happy to come back to, part of who we are."
— Maia Tchetchik, Current Parent

"As an alumni parent, I've seen our Wornick graduates and their friends go onto high school and enjoy great success. Not only academically, but as well-rounded kids with a strong sense of self, of right and wrong, of how to be a good person in the world, how to get along with others -- how to achieve success in life."
— David Steirman, Alumni Parent

"At Wornick, we were accepted and loved as individuals. We brought ourselves to school each day and our teachers invested in us, embraced us, loved us for our differences and the unique perspective our much smaller selves brought to the classroom."
— Sydney Calander, Class of 2002

"We love being a part of Wornick, not only because of the great teachers and students, but because it’s amazing to send our child to a school that is guided by Jewish values, teachings and the importance of connected community."
— Rabbi Corey and Jenny Helfand, Current Parents

"We are raising intelligent, compassionate and motivated young people who will mature into outstanding members of our Jewish and secular communities."
— Rabbi Dennis Eisner, Senior Rabbi at Peninsula Temple Beth El and Alumnae Wornick Parent
