Wornick Jewish Day School Names New Head of School
Wornick’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Eilath as its new Head of School. Adam’s official start date will be July 1, 2019. Please read the below announcement from the Wornick Board of Trustees as well as Adam Eilath's letter to the community.
The HOS Search is still ongoing and we hope to have an additional update in the near future. The candidate who visited in December is still being considered at this time. Additionally, we want to thank Limeng Stroh for her countless hours of work chairing the Search Committee over the last year. She has stepped down from her position, and Daphne Kaufer is now the point of contact. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A second HOS Candidate visited Wornick on December 12 and 13. Parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders, and trustees met with the candidate and had the opportunity to provide feedback. Thank you very much to everyone who took time out of their schedules to attend one of the sessions with the candidate and provide feedback.
The HOS Search Committee has begun finalist round interviews which involves bringing candidates to our community. The first visit took place November 12 and 13 and comprised a 1.5-day itinerary with opportunities for teachers, parents, administrators, community leaders, and trustees to meet the candidate and provide feedback. A second candidate visit will be scheduled for early December. As our interview round progresses into the third round for some candidates, the HOS Search Committee is also still reviewing candidates in the second round to ensure a healthy candidate pipeline. After each candidate visit, the search committee meets to discuss observations and evaluations. A recommendation will be made to the Board of Trustees when all visits have been completed.
October 2018 Update
The HOS Search Committee has completed first round interviews and will be going into second round interviews in the next three weeks. This second round is the second of three interview rounds. While candidate identities are confidential at this point, please note that there will be opportunity later in the year for members of the community to meet with finalist candidates.
Interim Head of School Announcement
The Wornick Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Lillian Howard as Wornick's new interim Head of School for the 2018-19 academic year. On December 8, 2017, we announced that our beloved Head of School, Dr. Barbara Gereboff plans to retire after ten years at R.C. Wornick Jewish Day School. Barbara has led the Wornick Jewish Day School with exceptional wisdom, passion, thoughtfulness, commitment, and heart. Among her many outstanding achievements is her success in building Wornick as an academically progressive institution, one of the early independent schools to adopt a curriculum steeped in inter-disciplinary learning. Under Barbara’s leadership, Wornick has become a school known for developing engaged, resilient leaders. This spring, she was approached by a national Jewish non-profit organization for an amazing opportunity to work with them. She will be leaving Wornick on June 30, 2018, rather than at the end of the 2018-19 school year, as previously announced.
Barbara will continue in her role as head of school through June 2018, and she is committed to a smooth leadership transition. Any communications to the Head of School should be directed to her through that date.
