Dear Wornick Community,
We have many upcoming events as we move into the last week of school. We wanted to provide you with some updated information as well as reminders. They are also posted on our End of the Year Events page on our website, with pictures for our families to enjoy. Please read all the way through!
Two Events with Updated Information:
Chavurah Meeting, Wednesday, June 3
Next Wednesday, June 3 from 8:30-9:00 am will be our last Chavurah meeting of the year. The link can be found in your student's Google Meet. During this time, the teacher leaders will take some time to say farewell to any 8th graders, connect with the chavurah members, play some games, and time permitting, create gratitude posters for essential workers. To prepare for the games and activities, we ask that your student(s) have paper, colored crayons or markers, and a pencil available. In addition, a scavenger hunt is planned, therefore do not get alarmed when your student asks you, "Where are my flip flops?" Thank you for your support in making this last meeting special!
Pending City Approval: End of the Year Car Parade, Thursday, June 4, 3-4 pm
The School and the PTO are in the process of finalizing plans with the city of Foster City to allow Wornick to have an End of the Year Car Parade to provide our community with a way to share our thank yous and goodbyes for the summer. As you may know, the county of San Mateo recently authorized car parades on May 22. Foster City has a specific process to approve this request, including committee approval, and has advised that we will have a final decision on Tuesday, June 2. In the meantime, we can share our current plan and will update you as soon as we hear. We appreciate everyone's understanding and patience, as this is new for them. If they request adjustments to the plan, we will advise as soon as we know.
Shavuot, Friday, May 29
Tomorrow is Shavuot, so we do not have school tomorrow. If you missed the video our JS teachers prepared this morning for Tefillah, please enjoy!
Havdallah, Monday, June 1
We hope you can join us Monday morning at 8:30 am for our last Havdallah of the year.
5th Grade Promotion, Tuesday June 2
We look forward to honoring our soon-to-be middle schoolers at 9 am on June 2nd! Please note that 5th grade will not have regular classes on this date. We hope you have time that day to celebrate this milestone with your family. Additionally, there will be a surprise delivery that afternoon so be on the lookout for that!
8th Grade Graduation, Wednesday, June 3
We are so proud of our 8th graders, and we look forward to celebrating them at graduation on June 3rd at 4:30 pm. Please note that 8th grade will have Chavurah meetings and graduation practice that morning, however they will not have regular classes on this date.
