Dear Wornick Community,
Wow! That was such a wonderful Kabbalat Shabbat service. I can't describe to you the joy that I feel when I see all of your faces on Zoom and the excitement in your faces as we reunite virtually for our all school gatherings.
Remote Learning Survey
As we continue our remote learning program, your feedback is critical in our self-evaluation and ability to tailor our program to the needs of our families and students during these times. As you all know, the delicate work of balancing best practices in remote teaching, our student and family needs, as well as honoring our teachers' changing lives is evolving and ever present for us.
We are seeking feedback from parents once again about our remote learning program. Please complete our survey by Monday, April 27th at 10am. We will plan to evaluate the survey next week and we will introduce any changes the week after Parent-Teacher conferences. Please find the link to the survey at the end of this email.
Reminder: Parent Education with School Counselor Sara Calonico
Our school counselor, Sara Calonico, will be hosting a second workshop discussion for parents on Monday, April 27th at 4pm. The topic of discussion will be "Family Reward Systems and Incentives for Remote Learning." If you have any questions to submit in advance, please email Sara at firstname.lastname@example.org. She is happy to help, and is here for all of us.
Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Israel's Memorial Day and Israel's Independence Day)
On Tuesday morning, April 28, from 8:30-9am, Wornick will commemorate Israel's Memorial Day. The service will be led by Wornick staff, our Middle School students, and will feature Oren Hefetz, a retired Israeli Air Force major, who is the Jewish National Fund emissary in the Bay Area. Please wear a white shirt during the service. Traditionally, our Yom HaZikaron service is open to all students in 4th through 8th grades. All parents are welcome to join. Parents of younger students who want their children to attend may do so with adult supervision, but please note that the content of the service may not be developmentally appropriate for TK-3 students, and we traditionally do not have them attend this service.
On Wednesday, April 29, from 8:30-9am, we will gather as an entire community to celebrate Yom Ha'Atzmaut. We will hear from teachers, watch our community's "One Day" video together, and hear from a few students and teachers. Our gathering will end with a 10 minute live dance party with Israeli music! Please wear blue and white and decorate your room with Israeli spirit if you are up for it!
Yom Ha'Atzmaut Video - Photos Due Today!
A reminder if you have not already sent your "One Day" photos to Maia Tchetchik Sharir the deadline is today.
When we last communicated to you about Hot Lunch, we did not know that our school would be closed for the remainder of the school year. As a result, we need every family to fill out this form for us to be able to process any refunds or conversions to donations. We are sorry that we were not able to process all of our refunds yet for April. Our payment system was not built for large scale refunds, and we need your input. We are doing what we can to continue paying our contractors including our lunch team. If you can afford to convert these funds, our school would greatly appreciate it!
Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom and a wonderful weekend. We can't wait to see you all on Monday at 8:30am for Havdallah!
