Dear Wornick Community,

As we look towards the start of the second semester, our administration has begun preparing for the next academic year. An important piece of the planning process is setting tuition for the 2021-2022 school year. In setting tuition for this year, our Board of Trustees weighed a number of considerations carefully. First, our school had to spend more this year per student than ever before by hiring more teachers and cleaning staff, purchasing additional technology equipment for students and classrooms, and investing in health and safety protocols to allow us to remain open for on-campus learning for our students. It is too early to tell what the next academic year will look like even with widespread vaccinations. However, our health and safety experts and local authorities indicate that although they predict that schools will be able to remain open, significant health and safety measures will likely still be required. At the same time, we know that many of our families have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and other families are still cautious and uncertain about the impact COVID-19 will have on their respective business, industry, or field.

We continue to hear from parents and our wider community that our teachers have gone above and beyond in delivering instruction, building relationships, and finding ways to creatively structure learning environments during the pandemic. We want to retain our outstanding teachers by continuing to invest in them, offer competitive salaries, and improve their benefits. Even in these uncertain times, we made the decision to offer additional employee benefits to our professionals because we believe so strongly in the work that they do.

Last year, our school's tuition rate increase was the lowest in recent history. This year, after extensive discussions, the Board of Trustees and Administration, we chose to pass a similar increase of 3.25%. Our school is raising tuition at this level with the knowledge that we will need to continue raising capacity from generous donors in our community and by pursuing grants. Like this year, our tuition increase will not fully cover the additional costs and expenses of operating an outstanding and high quality educational program amidst the pandemic.

Tuition listed for all grades includes PTO fees, school supplies, class fees for day trips, overnight trips for 4th-7th grade, and teacher birthday gifts.

TK-3rd $29,950
4th-5th $30,560
6th-7th $34,995
8th* $35,235

* 8th grade tuition includes a $1,200 nonrefundable deposit for the Israel trip with the remaining cost being the family's responsibility.

For returning students, please note that because we have evergreen contracts, you will not need to reapply or sign a new contract for next year. You will receive an email in early March directing you to log in to Veracross and acknowledge school policies for the 2021-22 school year. The Business office will use the same payment plan (monthly, quarterly, or one time payment) as you had this year. If you wish to change your payment plan, please email Corine Edwards in the Business Office at businessoffice@wornickjds.org.

Our school will continue to prioritize tuition assistance for families who qualify. Making a Wornick education accessible to our community is a top priority for our Board and administration. If you are applying for tuition assistance, please note that applications are due by February 10, 2021. The Tuition Assistance Committee will email decisions to all applicant families by March 4, 2021.

The past 10 months have highlighted the strength, tenacity, and resilience of the Wornick community and we have faith that we can bridge the gap between tuition price and actual operational costs. We have increased our fundraising efforts and will continue to do so. In a year defined in so many ways by the challenge of the pandemic, we have seen our community thrive and grow. We are a community rooted in partnership, one that values its members, invests in its teachers, and is dedicated to excellence in education for our students.

We look forward to our continued partnership as we raise the leaders of our future together,

Adam
