Chugim - After School Enrichment Classes

RoboCoding gives students a hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of both coding and robotics by challenging them to build and execute programs with real robots. Using award-winning Cubelets, students combine robotic cubes to craft machines that can light up, move, and interact with the world around them. Collaborating on coding activities reinforces life skills like teamwork and problem-solving, and completing challenges leaves students feeling confident and proud.

A fun and exciting craft class led by a Wornick alum! Each week, students will create a new project while exploring a variety of materials and techniques. Projects will include decorating flower pots and picture frames, making clay bird feeders, tie-dying, and more. Students will receive basic instructions for each project and then have the freedom to use their creativity to design and make something unique to take home.

i9 Sports soccer programs help kids build skills, confidence, and character in a fun, supportive environment. Players learn age-appropriate soccer fundamentals—including dribbling, passing, shooting, positioning, and teamwork—through a structured curriculum designed to keep them active and engaged. With no tryouts and no benchwarmers, every child plays and has the opportunity to participate, improve, and contribute to the team. Along the way, coaches emphasize sportsmanship, resilience, leadership, and a love of the game.

Students will explore cells as the building blocks of the human body and investigate how specialized cells work together to help our bodies interact with the world. Throughout the course, students will use staining techniques and microscopy to examine their own cheek cells, separate model blood into its components, and compare diverse cell types through hands-on challenges. In their capstone project, they will investigate how multiple types of cells cooperate during a process such as healing a cut. Students will leave with a strong foundation for future courses focused on biology and the human body, along with greater confidence in experimental techniques, critical thinking, and scientific problem-solving.

Tap into the incredible art of stop-motion film production and learn the technique from the ground up. Claymation contains everything students need to create their own individual movies, including top-quality clay, fun-to-use software, adorable cameras, and curriculum that turns anyone into a filmmaker. Through cumulative projects, teamwork, technological literacy, and a little bit of movie-making magic, students are sure to win awards at the film festival held on the last day of class!

Nexplore Chess, in partnership with MM Chess Academy, introduces students to the game of chess and helps them develop critical thinking, strategy, and problem-solving skills. During the course, students practice chess basics, different opening strategies, and how to checkmate their opponent. Working through the Nexplore-exclusive workbook “How To Beat Your Friends in Chess,” students move up “bracelets” just like karate belts, and each level unlocks new potential!

Kids code their own versions of games they love this session—a gingerbread chase, arcade hoops, a treasure dig. Lando is WASC-accredited, ESSA IV-certified, and a STEM.org award winner. Every game starts partly built, and kids code the rest, with teachers guiding just-right challenges so no one gets stuck or bored. After every class, you get an email with a link to play the game your child made.

Sculptors work through the great outdoors—hatchlings in Nature's Nursery, gooey s'mores in Campfire Crew, a postman snail in Garden Party. Every build teaches a real skill—joinery, proportion, texture—tailored from perfect spheres to a dinosaur balanced on one leg. Sculptures come home; parents get photos after every class. Students embark on a 3D educational journey, fueled by the power of 3Doodler! Using 3D printing pens, students break down complex science and math topics into hands-on, approachable tasks, bringing STEAM and design concepts to life. 3Doodler engages all students to promote teamwork, creative thinking, self-expression, and focus. After experimenting with 3D printing pens, students will become engineers, designers, and scientists wherever they go.

Join us for a colorful adventure in no-bake clay art! Students explore color theory, mix their own custom colors, and sculpt everything from adorable cartoon characters to animals, fruits, and fantasy creatures.

This hands-on class encourages creative expression while developing fine motor skills, patience, and focus as students bring their imaginative clay creations to life.

Students will investigate how the brain is organized, how neurons communicate, and how brain circuits control movement, sensation, memory, emotion, and behavior. Through sheep-brain dissection, tissue staining, microscopy, circuit-building activities, and disease-based challenges, students will learn about and practice techniques used in real neuroscience research. For their final project, they will map a brain circuit and investigate how disease or injury can disrupt it. Students will leave with a deeper understanding of biological systems, insight into biomedical research, and stronger experimental, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Recommended background: Students should be familiar with the basic idea that the body is made of cells; no neuroscience background is required as all neuroscience concepts will be introduced during the course.
