TK/Kindergarten Teacher
Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a Kindergarten lead teacher beginning the 2026-2027 school year. Wornick’s kindergarten is a play based environment that helps prepare students for the academic and social-emotional requirements of elementary school. Every year we have a handful of transitional kindergarten students join us. The role is supported by an assistant teacher and an additional Hebrew/Judaics enrichment teacher. The teacher will serve as a lead teacher and will be responsible for teaching ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science. We are seeking an experienced teacher who has knowledge of progressive educational environments.
The Kindergarten teacher will:
- Provide an instructional program based on the needs of each student
- Implement our school adopted programs as the base curriculum for the grade
- Design engaging curriculum that meets the school’s guiding principles, including but not limited to Project Based Learning, design thinking, performance-based assessment
- Create and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and other teachers
- Differentiate effectively for diverse learners in the classroom
- Assess students learning frequently and effectively to ensure grade level standards are being met
- Create engaging lesson and unit plans under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School and other educational leaders at the school
- Document student learning and report home frequently on student assessments and progress
- Utilize multi-modal methods of instruction and learning in recognition of the diverse ways students learn
- Assist the administration in creating a respectful school environment in support of the behavioral and cultural policies of the school
- Provide appropriate and engaging individualized work for students in support of plans created with parents, tutors, aides and specialists
- Collaborate with grade level peers to support students, integrate learning across multiple subject areas and create a holistic grade level experience
- Recognize parents as critical partners in student learning and utilize support services within the school
- Use technology appropriately to advance learning goals
- Attend all staff meetings and fulfill other duties assigned by the Assistant Head of School (recess duties, club supervision etc)
- Receive and provide feedback in a professional manner with other school professionals
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a degree or an advanced degree in education with a California teaching credential
- Have a minimum of five (5) years as a kindergarten teacher, 5+ highly preferred
- Have experience teaching “Wilson Fundations” or similar reading program like Orton Gillingham
- Possess a strong understanding of child development through professional development and formal learning experiences
- Be familiar with progressive educational approaches (Project Based Learning, student centered classroom, science of reading etc)
- Experience with Google Classroom, G Suite, and other LMS a plus
- Have experience in lesson planning and curriculum design
- Possess a love of learning and a passion for engaging students
- Have experience differentiation for diverse classroom learners
- Be a collaborative team member who will seek advice from peers and rely on the professional expertise of our administrators and support services
- First aid/CPR a plus
- Experience with independent schools is a plus!
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary for this position is determined by years of experience and credentials. Our range for elementary school teachers is between $75,000 and $105,000

Upper Elementary Teacher

The teacher will serve as a teacher in our elementary school and will be responsible for teaching ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Middle School Social Studies/Humanities Teacher

We are seeking a middle school Social Studies/Humanities instructor with demonstrated success in teaching literary analysis, composition, and grammar, and inspiring in young adolescents a love for reading and writing. In addition, all humanities classes engage students in collaborative discussions and independent projects, therefore the successful candidate will be both familiar and comfortable with project-based learning. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Learning Specialist to support students in both elementary and middle school. This role focuses on working with students who have diverse learning needs, collaborating with teachers and families, and helping ensure that every child can thrive academically and confidently.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with the lead teachers to assess the strengths and needs of students
- Coordinate with the Director of Learning Support to support student needs, plan learning, and collaborate on approach
- Follow learning plans and collaborate with the grade level teachers on individualized goals for specific students
- Facilitate teacher communication/understanding about individual students from grade to grade in collaboration with our Director of Learning Support
- Conduct classroom observations of students to better understand individual student’s learning strengths and needs
- Extend learning for high achieving students and guide struggling learners to reach their potential
- Work one on one and with groups of students to achieve learning plan goals
- Help students build executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, and study strategies
- Part-time/ possibility to become full time
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required, master's degree in special education is preferred
- At least three years of classroom experience required
- At least two years of experience working as a learning specialist or student support professional
- Knowledge of Wilson Fundations, Orton Gillingham, and/or Lindamood Bell methodologies desired
- Familiarity with the SST process
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.

We are seeking a physical education teacher (75-100% FTE) to join our community of educators. We are seeking an experienced physical education teacher who has knowledge of progressive educational environments and will help every student thrive.
The ideal candidate will also have proficiency in the Hebrew language so students are supported in their work toward fluency. Wornick’s Hebrew language curriculum prepares our graduates to be conversationally proficient in Hebrew. Our teaching methodology is based on best practices recommended by the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) with a focus on speaking and comprehension. Substantive research shows that students experience cognitive benefits as a result of second language learning, particularly when the target language is so different from the native language with a different alphabet and directionality.
