Director of Development
The Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is an independent, coeducational program for learners in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Located in Foster City, CA, Wornick seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Development to join the Senior Leadership Team. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Head of School and is responsible for leading all aspects of the school’s development and fundraising programs.
Wornick is in an exciting phase of growth, with enrollment, philanthropy, and endowment all significantly increasing in recent years. We are completing a $24.2 million comprehensive campaign and currently raise $2.5 million annually through a combination of gifts and grants. The next Director of Development will play a critical role in shaping the future of the school by expanding our culture of philanthropy and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and oversee the execution of all aspects of the development program, including annual giving, major gifts, endowment and capital campaigns, alumni giving, and planned giving initiatives.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to increase giving at all levels, with a particular emphasis on major gifts and endowment growth.
- Build and strengthen relationships with foundations and institutional funders.
- Partner closely with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, and campaign leadership to drive strategic fundraising initiatives and build meaningful donor relationships.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing development team; implement systems and processes that support effectiveness and accountability.
- Work closely with the Development Committee and other board committees to plan and execute fundraising initiatives.
- Lead and support staff, lay leaders, and volunteers in planning and executing events that build community and cultivate donors.
- Expand alumni engagement and giving programs to deepen long-term relationships with former students and families.
- Build and sustain a robust culture of philanthropy across the school community—including parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty/staff, and friends of the school.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop compelling messaging, donor communications, and promotional materials.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the Head of School, Board of Trustees, and Development Committee to track progress and inform planning.
- Serve as a confident and inspiring ambassador for Wornick to external stakeholders including donors, foundations, and community partners.
Personal and Professional Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven track record in fundraising, with at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in development, ideally in an educational or nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, building donor pipelines, and managing comprehensive or capital campaigns.
- Familiarity with Jewish Day Schools or Jewish education, and the ability to passionately articulate its importance.
- Management experience is required, including supervising staff and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience partnering with boards, committees, and senior leaders to advance institutional goals.
- Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic landscape and relationships with major donors or foundations is a plus.
- Dynamic and inspiring leader who motivates others, builds trust, and cultivates a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Highly organized, process-oriented, and comfortable setting up systems that create structure and accountability.

Compensation:
This position offers an annual salary range of $120,000-$180,000 commensurate with relevant experience, plus a generous benefits package including tuition remission and a complimentary family membership at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center.

Kindergarten Teacher
Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a Kindergarten lead teacher beginning the 2025-2026 school year. Wornick’s kindergarten is a play based environment that helps prepare students for the academic and social-emotional requirements of elementary school. Every year we have a handful of transitional kindergarten students join us. The role is supported by an assistant teacher and an additional Hebrew/Judaics enrichment teacher. The teacher will serve as a lead teacher and will be responsible for teaching ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science. We are seeking an experienced teacher who has knowledge of progressive educational environments.
The Kindergarten teacher will:
- Provide an instructional program based on the needs of each student
- Implement our school adopted programs as the base curriculum for the grade
- Design engaging curriculum that meets the school’s guiding principles, including but not limited to Project Based Learning, design thinking, performance-based assessment
- Create and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and other teachers
- Differentiate effectively for diverse learners in the classroom
- Assess students learning frequently and effectively to ensure grade level standards are being met
- Create engaging lesson and unit plans under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School and other educational leaders at the school
- Document student learning and report home frequently on student assessments and progress
- Utilize multi-modal methods of instruction and learning in recognition of the diverse ways students learn
- Assist the administration in creating a respectful school environment in support of the behavioral and cultural policies of the school
- Provide appropriate and engaging individualized work for students in support of plans created with parents, tutors, aides and specialists
- Collaborate with grade level peers to support students, integrate learning across multiple subject areas and create a holistic grade level experience

The ideal candidate will:
- Have a degree or an advanced degree in education with a California teaching credential
- Have a minimum of three (3) years as a kindergarten teacher, 5+ highly preferred
- Have experience teaching “Wilson Fundations” or similar reading program

Elementary Teacher

Wornick Day School is seeking an elementary school teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher will serve as a lead teacher in our lower elementary school (TK-2nd) and will be responsible for teaching ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science. School Counselor
Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students, and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a part-time (16-24 hours per week) school counselor to join our professional team and significantly impact the academic, social, emotional, and cultural well being of our students, professionals, and families.
The School Counselor will:
- Serve on our Student Support Team to create strategies, support plans, and systems for students who are experiencing social, emotional, and learning challenges
- Liaison with outside service providers while coordinating and implementing support plans at our school.
- Meet with students for in school sessions as needed
- Guide teachers and administrators in supporting students emotional needs
- Support and create social emotional programs for students in concert with grade level teachers and administrators
- Provide training to teachers in supporting students
- Be available for contact with parents, students, and staff as needed
- Support students when they need breaks from class. Create systems to support emotional regulation for students when classes become challenging for individual students.
- Advise and inform discipline policies and classroom management strategies
A successful candidate will have:
- Masters Degree in School Counseling, MFT, MSW or related degree
- Our school will consider applicants who are still working towards their credentials
- 3+ years working with children in a school setting (ideally, not required)
- Experience providing counseling support in a student centered environment
- Experience liaising with other service providers
- Experience speaking with parents, students, and teachers about sensitive issues
- Prior knowledge and experience with Jewish communities a plus but not required
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary for this position is determined by years of experience and credentials. Our expected range for this position, based on 40-60% FTE, is $32,000-$63,000.

Learning Specialist - Language Learners
Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a Learning Specialist, specializing in language learners, beginning the 2025-2026 school year. The Specialist will be part of the Learning Support Services team and work closely with students learning English as a second language. The role will involve providing one-on-one or small group instruction and collaborating with teachers, professionals, and parents to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. We are seeking an experienced person who has experience in progressive educational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to language learners in both individual and group settings.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching methods to meet the specific needs of students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate language support into the curriculum.
- Assess student performance and provide regular feedback to students, families, and educational staff.
- Implement and support various strategies to enhance language acquisition, including scaffolding, differentiation, and cultural sensitivity.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in language acquisition and special education, particularly in language learners.
- Provide support in the use of educational technologies that facilitate language learning.
- Participate in weekly SST meetings to discuss students’ progress
- Communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress
The ideal candidate will have:
- At a minimum have a Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred)
- Master’s Degree preferred in literacy or equivalent field
- Proven experience working with language learners, preferably in a K-12 education setting.
- In-depth knowledge of language acquisition theories and language learning strategies.
- Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by Language Learners.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning styles.
- Certification in CLAD preferred.
- Knowledge of Wilson Fundations, Orton Gillingham, and/or Lindamood Bell methodologies desired
