FAQ
How does this event differ from the Chai Excellence campaign?
This event supports your PTO and all the fabulous PTO activities that occur during the year. The Chai Excellence Campaign supports the school's operating budget and helps fill the gap between what it actually costs to educate our children and the cost of tuition.
Why do you need a fundraiser for our PTO?
I thought we paid dues at the beginning of the year…
PTO runs on a budget of about $55K per year. We collect dues at the beginning of the year. The balance of the PTO's operating budget comes from only one fundraising event - this one!
What is the fundraising element of the event?
Our hope is that each student brings in a minimum contribution of $100. Instead of sponsorships we are selling raffle tickets as a way to raise funds. The PTO has a selection of terriffic prizes, including an iPad, $500 gift certificate to the PJCC, Disneyland tickets , jewelry, sports events tickets, certificates for nice restaurants, etc. Each student will receive two books of nine raffle tickets. The cost of the tickets are $10 each. We hope that each student will be able to sell at least 10 tickets each. More books will be available, so if your student wishes to sell more, they are welcome to do so! We hope that students will approach neighbors, aunties, uncles, grandparents, etc to buy their tickets. The goal is not for parents to have to buy these tickets from their kids! For families with multiple kids at the school – please don't feel pressure! Encourage your kids to sell what they can – and don't feel bad if they can't sell the lot! For those with budding sales skills, we will have prizes for the student who sells the most tickets, as well as incentives for classes who have the highest participation.
What does our PTO pay for anyway?
All of those cool, fun events that you attended during the year are either covered by or supported by your PTO. The back to school dinner, Chanukah party, enrichment programs, and ways we treat our staff are all examples of where your PTO money goes. Our goal is to spend the money raised each year during the year in which it was collected. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us. We'd be happy to show you our budget!
Can i earn Chai Hours for this event?
Sure! We definitely need your help! Please sign up on the electronic volunteer sign up. You can find this at www.bit.ly/wfiesta
Is there entertainment at this event?
YES! What would a fiesta be without entertainment? We have a DJ lined up, as well as face painting, balloon creations, tug of war, potato sack races, and more fun activities.
Is there food at this event?
Of course! We don't expect you to pay $10 and not get a full dinner. We will be serving fish tacos, quesadillas, beans, nachos, rice, guacamole & chips, fruit, brownies, ice cream, and some other treats...
What is there for alumni at this event?
Wornick loves it when their alumni come back to visit. Come and volunteer at the event, or just come
Who is this event open to?
This is a Wornick Community event. This event is open to all students and their families, teachers, staff, board members, alumni, incoming families, and friends.
