GUIDELINES FOR USING THE LAPTOPS
AND THE LAPTOP CART

The cart is reserved for Technology Class during times in BLACK on the computer schedule.  The laptops that will be used during those times are written in WHITE.  All other laptops are available during those times.

General guidelines:

1. You MUST sign out the cart or laptop when you want to borrow it.  If you do not sign out the cart or laptop, your borrowing privileges will be revoked.
2. THE LAPTOPS AND THE CART MAY NOT LEAVE THE SCHOOL.
3. The cart must be locked whenever it is not in use.
4. Whoever borrows a laptop or the cart is responsible for it, at all times.
5. The laptops must be in the cart, plugged in when not in use.
6. The laptops must be in the cart, plugged in 5 minutes before they are going to be used in a technology class or a class that has signed up for the cart.
7. Please do not change any of the System Preferences on the laptops.
8. Always carry the laptop with 2 hands.
9. No food or drinks near the laptops.
10. Laptops and the cart may only be borrowed by RCWJDS faculty, staff, or students (under the supervision of a faculty member)

Using the WHOLE cart:

1. Please fill out a Cart Reservation Form and tape it to the cart at least 1 day in advance.
2. At present, only grades 3, 4, and 5 may borrow the whole cart.
3. When you bring the computer to your classroom, plug it in immediately.
4. Students should use the same computers they use during technology class
5. For 3rd grade, the instructor must hand out and put away the laptops.  Student may only take them back to their desks
6. 4th and 5th grade students are allowed to take and replace their own computers for the cart.
7. When you are done with the cart, return it as soon as possible to Room 209 (Ms. Black’s room) and MAKE SURE TO PLUG IT IN.

Using specific laptops:

1. When borrowing a laptop, make sure it is returned with AT LEAST 1:00 HOUR in the battery before a class (including technology class) is going to use the cart.
2. Make sure to have the laptop returned at least 5 minutes before the cart is going to be used in a class.
3. The laptop must be returned to the cart before you leave school.
4. Plug the laptop in FULLY when you put it back.
5. Only 5th grade students are allowed to borrow specific laptops and their teacher is responsible for that laptop.

Note: The cart resides in room 209 (Ms. Black’s room).  The combination for the cart is the same as the combination for the outside gate.
