HOW TO FIX KID PIX DELUXE 4
Problem: KP randomly “unexpectedly quit”s, usually when using Stickers or Stamps.
Warning: This procedure involves modifying permission settings by entering commands in the Terminal application. Users unfamiliar with Terminal and UNIX-like environments should proceed with caution. The entry of incorrect commands may result in data loss or unusable system software. Improper alteration of permissions can result in reduced system security or exposure of private data.
- Close all windows and programs to return to the desktop.
- Double-click the hard drive alias located on the desktop.
- Click View from the top menu bar then click As Columns. The contents of the hard drive will display in column view.
- Click the Applications folder.
- Click the Utilities folder.
- Double-click the Terminal alias. The Terminal window will open and the Utilities window will be visible in the background.
- Click to select the Utilities window.
- Click the Users folder.
- Click the Shared folder.
- Click the The Learning Company folder. A Terminal window and a The Learning Company window will be visible.
- Arrange the Terminal window and the The Learning Company window so both can be viewed at the same time.
- Click the Terminal window to select it and type sudo chmod -R 777 in the Terminal window.
- Note: A space is required at the end of this command.
- Drag the The Learning Company folder from the The Learning Company window into the Terminal window. The command line will appear similar to the line shown below:
- sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/Shared/The\ Learning\ Company
- Press the Enter key on the keyboard to execute the command.
- Enter the Administrator password at the Password prompt and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
- Note: When typing this password, the characters will not appear on the screen. This is the expected behavior.
- Close all windows to return to the desktop.
- Launch and use Kid Pix® Deluxe 4 (Network) as the desired user.
