Aug 29 - Sep 9
Welcome back to school. Much has happened since we were all together last. There have been many new and exciting additions to the school, both Techwise and otherwise. I have just been SO amazed in the efforts from teachers this summer to get ready for the school year. From Kindergarten to 8th grade, Secular to Judaic, completely across the board great things have been happening. This is really going to be a great year.
For some highlights of our most exciting tech additions please email me or come by the library...
Kindergarten: We did our first quick introductions. I introduced myself to the students and was introduced to them. We talked about rules in class, keeping our hands clean, sitting correctly and calmly. We talked about some of the subjects we will be covering this year in computer class.
1st Grade: No Class
2nd Grade: 2A — No Class
2B -- We spoke about the rules, about respecting the computer, others, ourselves, and me. We spoke of open communication and mutual respect. We talked about what we would be covering in class this year. Then we completed a computer worksheet where students identified parts of the computers, labeled them as input/output/processing devices and drew in the wires.
3rd Grade: We spoke about the rules, about respecting the computer, others, ourselves, and me. We spoke of open communication and mutual respect. We talked about what we would be covering in class this year. Then we completed a computer worksheet where students identified parts of the computers, labeled them as input/output/processing devices and drew in the wires.
4th Grade: 4A -- We spoke about the rules, about respecting the computer, others, ourselves, and me. We spoke of open communication and mutual respect. We talked about what we would be covering in class this year. Then we completed a computer worksheet where students identified parts of the computers, labeled them as input/output/processing devices and drew in the wires.
4B — No Class
Homework:
5th Grade: We spoke about the rules, about respecting the computer, others, ourselves, and me. We spoke of open communication and mutual respect. We talked about what we would be covering in class this year. I informed the students that they would be receiving their own accounts on the computers as part of their preparation for Middle School and their own laptops. Then we completed a computer worksheet where students identified parts of the computers, labeled them as input/output/processing devices and drew in the wires.
Homework:
6th Grade: Sep 2 — We reviewed all the documents the students would need to receive their laptops. We went over the Laptop FAQs in details and discussed some of the students’ questions and concerns.
Sep 9 — The BIG day. Students were given their laptops. We did our yearly ceremony of turning on the computers together. We reviewed the documentation, requirements, and expectations regarding the laptops. We configured the students’ email accounts and MS Entourage. Those students who were missing either a)documents, b)a case, or c) a parent having attended the orientation had to leave their laptops at school over the weekend.
7th Grade: Sep 2 — We reviewed all the documents the students would need to receive their laptops.
Those students who were missing either a)documents, or b) a parent having attended the orientation had to leave their laptops at school over the weekend.
8th Grade: No class. But the students received their laptops. Those students who were missing either a)documents, or b) a parent having attended the orientation had to leave their laptops at school over the weekend.
