Wornick News

  • Dr. Gereboff’s Head Notes - Too Jewish, Not Jewish Enough?  That question pops up in every Jewish day school. According to my Independent School colleagues, it also appears in other religious day schools – notably Episcopal and Catholic schools – framed as “too religious or not religious enough”...

  • Principal's Proud Moments
With the coming of Passover, we enter the homestretch of the school year. Students are diligently mastering content, completing projects, and preparing for culminating events that will demonstrate their growth over the school year...

  • Chai Excellence Fund
We are now at 98% - so close to our goal of 100% parent participation!! Thank you very much to those have already given and if you haven't yet done so, it's never too late! The school relies on your support to maintain the personalized education your children receive. We are grateful for your dedication.

  • 7th Grade Tzedakah Project
Our 7th Graders are selling Shabbat Candles every Friday before & after Kabbalat Shabbat! They are $5 for a pair of two candles. They will be individually packaged and very nice easy way to get a pair of candles for the night. There are five different colors! (not just the color in the picture).

The 7th Grade Tzedakah Project is also having a recycled book sale!  Please bring in story books, novels, etc. and drop them off in baskets or give them to a 7th Grader directly. The baskets will be placed next to the food bank donations downstairs. We will be collecting until March 31 and we will put a basket out by the door so that you can place any donations that you have. We will be selling these books (along with collectables) from April 14-22.  Thank you for the support!

  • JFCS Passover Food Drive
Let all who are hungry come and eat! We say these words every year at Passover, and for so many families, right here in our own community, that is their strongest wish. Children in San Mateo County go to bed hungry during Passover and all year long. Let's join together to make a real difference in their lives. All food and toiletry items can be dropped off at the bins in the school lobby, and will be donated to local needy families through Jewish Family and Children's Services. Click here for the JFCS Food Pantry wish list. Questions? Contact Rebecca at Rebecca.Schwartz@comcast.net.

  • Registration for the JDS5K is OPEN!
This year's race is on Sunday, May 3. The fee is $20, but this does not come without some new additions to the race. By popular demand, each registered participant will receive an official JDS5K tee shirt and have the opportunity to enjoy post race coffee and munchies. Click here for the registration link, and please "like" our Facebook page. GO RAMS!

  • Celebrating Simchas with "People of the Book"
Celebrate a simcha of a Wornick child by supporting the Library and recognizing the child! Birthdays, births, Bar and Bat Mitzvot, graduations — anything! Click here for the flyer with more information, and download the order form here. Questions? Contact Robin Will at library@wornickjds.org or (650) 378-2617.

Seen @Wornick this week: Havdallah last Monday morning, our middle schoolers having fun in the Rose Lent Rose Garden, bff's hanging out in the library at lunch, and our 2nd and 3rd graders at a Model Matzah Bakery learning about and taking part in the process from grinding grain to finished matzah, they each took home a fresh baked matzah.  Most of these photos were taken by middle school Yearbook elective students: Talia, Julia, Gabe and Noah.
