supplemental reference guide was sent home this afternoon.

Today I introduced the Independent Reading project to

TOWANGA DATES

Dear 4b Parents,

Good news!!!  We have just received the dates for our 2006 Camp Tawonga trip!  Our “stagecoach” (well-appointed bus with professional driver) will be leaving our school at 8:30 on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.  We will stay in “Hangtown” (Camp Tawonga) for three days and two nights.  Our stagecoach will arrive back at school at approximately 5:00pm on Friday, May 5, 2006.  

Prices will be set within the next few weeks, and we will convey those to you as soon as they are confirmed.

This is, by far, the most fantastic experience of the fourth grade.  We highly recommend that all students attend.  As we move through our Gold Rush curriculum, (March/April) we will be discussing the trip in detail.  If you have any questions at this time, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Read Chapters 1-3 in Island of the Blue Dolphins.  Chapters 1-3 describe the island.  The assignments that follow will help you visualize the Island of the Blue Dolphins.
 

1. Find at least  5 phrases in the chapters that describe the island.  Create a list of the phrases and the page numbers on which you find them.  Be sure to type in the entire phrase or sentence!
   

Ø    (Example: “Our island is two leagues long and one league wide.”  pg. 16.)

1. Go to the blogger page at (http://www.wornickjds.org/grade4A)  
   

Ø    Go to the bottom where it says comments.  Click on the word “comments”.  

Ø    Click on the button that says “Post a comment”.
 
Ø    Choose “Post Anonymously.”
 
Ø    Type in your name.

Ø    Type in your 5 phrases and page numbers.

Ø    Click on Publish Your Comment.

This homework must be done before Tuesday, September 20, 2005 as we will be using this information in class.
