5.27.08

Hi All,

I’m sitting here listening to the students rehearse for Hero Rock.  They’re really good, and the production itself is wonderful!  Hopefully we’ll have a full audience on Thursday evening.

The students have been working on their final social studies project for the past three weeks.  Their PowerPoint presentation are almost done and ready to be shared. We’d love to have you join us for any (or all) of these presentations.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday, June 2: 9:30-10:30am:
Amit, Ari, Jacob, Josh

Tuesday, June 3: 9:30-10:30am:
Leora, Shayna, Ben, Talia

Wednesday, June 4: 9:45-10:30am:
Lizzy, Jillian, Sam

Thursday, June 5: 2:30-3:30pm:
Jordan, David, Danya, Jules

We continue to work on our last literature book, The People of Sparks. The story has shifted to focus on the world outside of Sparks, showing us the devastated landscape surrounding Sparks.  We also see the seeds of hatred bloom as several of the characters are the victims of false accusations, misguided impressions and self-serving individuals.  Our class discussions have included conversations about “crossing the line”, first impressions, and pride versus patriotism.

In science, we are finishing our electric game boards. These were a wonderful application of their electrical knowledge.  Hopefully they will take them home later this week (or early next week).

Finally, when we have a few extra minutes we’re working on our Vasarely artwork. The students have really taken to this mathematical artform.  I can’t wait for you to see their finished products!

That’s all for now.  I’ll see you on Thursday.

Debbi
