ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fires in Israel and Haifa

Our hearts go out to all the affected Israelis and our friends in Haifa, especially our partners at the Reali School, who have been displaced due to the fires in the area. With guidance from our Reali friends, we are putting together a response to help those families directly and will let you know this week how best our community can make an impact.

Chai Excellence Fund -

Our Annual Campaign has begun!

We have reached 100% staff and board participation for six consecutive years! We are once again hoping that we can accomplish 100% participation with our current families, too. We are at 46% parent participation and our goal is to reach 100% by December 31. See where your class stands in the chart on the right! The students in the first four classes to reach 100% will be invited to celebrate at a party with the principals and Dr. G. For more information on how together we can reach this goal and learn about our match terms for this year please contact Phoenix Feinbloom at pfeinbloom@wornickjds.org or call 650.378.2621. It's Fall Book Fair Week! All proceeds benefit Wornick PTO. Come get your holiday shopping done!

On Wednesday, November 30 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. - we welcome Israeli author Lilach Kaminski, who wrote the amazing book: "Aba Holech Laavoda / "אבא הולך לעבודה " (in Hebrew) - "Dad Goes to Work". The book is about a curious child, who wants to know what Aba / אבא (dad) is doing at work. It is a unique journey of a child and his imagination in an adult's world. The book is heart warming and is now translated to English. Lilach is now working on the second book in the series - "Ima / אמא (mom) is Going to Work". Lilach will read

"אבא הולך לעבודה" in עברית to our Wornick students and also lead a fun activity. Lilach is great with kids and we invite all native and non-native speakers to join. She will autograph all books purchased that evening. Hope you can join us.

The 7th graders will be selling pizza and drinks to benefit the Tzedakah Project, so please join us to shop and eat dinner.

A HUGE thank you to Diana Hardy for all of her hard work organizing the wonderful giving opportunities in the month of November. It was awesome for Wornick to be a part of enriching the lives of others.

We need some volunteers that can solicit a Trader Joe's donation for our school wide Chanukkah Celebration. Please contact Katie at krcwolff@gmail.com if you can help.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Beth Bonfiglio's Blog: A Thankful Reflection

This week as we take time to reflect on what we are thankful for, I too, would like to take a moment to give thanks. I am grateful to be the principal at Wornick and to have an opportunity to work alongside of some of the very best students, families, educators and staff in the country. First of all, I am thankful for our students. They come to class every day and put significant effort into becoming more skilled, curious and knowledgeable citizens.  Read more
