Screenagers - Tuesday, September 27 @ 7:30 p.m.

Wornick will be screening the film, Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age, for all parents in the Ulam Gadol on Tuesday, September 27. This documentary explores the impact and risks of screen technology (including cell phones, social media, and games) on kids, as well as offers solutions on how to work with them to achieve a more healthy level of screen time. Middle School students will view this film in school on September 26. In both cases, a dialogue will ensue afterwards to work through ideas and solutions together for successfully managing the amount of time our children spend interacting with digital devices.

30th Birthday Gift for Our Students

As part of the yearlong celebration of our 30th birthday, students will be receiving special commemorative

ROOM PARENTS NEEDED….

Wornick is a wonderful place, a school, a family, because of people like you. Being a room parent is a fantastic way to get involved in the classroom and school activities, as well as get to know your child's teachers. As a room parent, you work closely with the teachers, PTO and other parents to organize support for both classroom and school wide activities. You deliver PTO purchased birthday gifts to teachers and organize classroom playdates and parents nights out. The job is mostly done through emails and signup sheets, but we need volunteers now, as the room parents play a vital role in maintaining the Wornick community.

We would be happy to answer any questions about the role or responsibilities, so please feel free to contact Heather Cahan or just sign up. Signup sheets are located on the glass wall outside of the Ulam Gadol or online at PTO Sign-Up Sheet.

Save the Date:

Wornick Community Shabbat Dinner

Friday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m.

We need volunteers to help set-up and clean-up. A sign-up sheet will be available very soon.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dr. Gereboff's Head Notes: Screenagers

A mother, father and two teenage daughters walked into a restaurant where my husband and I were dining a few weeks ago. We decided to time how long it would be before they all whipped out their cell phones and starting staring at the screens. Within seconds the two girls had clicked on their phones, and their parents followed suit a few minutes later. They all stayed focused on those screens even as they were being shown to their table.
