This Week
Wornick said goodbye and L'hitraot to our visitors from Reali School in Haifa Monday morning. There were tears and hugs as the eighth graders parted with their visiting counterparts. They can't wait to reunite in Haifa in March when our eighth graders travel to Israel. In the meantime, there are texts and Instagram messages flying across the world as they keep in touch with their new Chaverim

Kindergarten is exploring outer space this month -- and comparing the light of knowledge to the darkness of ignorance. Ask them if it's cold on Jupiter, or how the sun turns day into night.

Second graders wrapped up their literature study of The Keeping Quilt with presentations of their own family mementos. Then they made snow out of polymers. Don't know what that is? Ask a second grader!

Fourth grade used their math brains for a lot of good this week! It was time for the annual cookie project The Great American Bake Sale. Armed with a bunch of cookie recipes, they borrowed capital from their teachers, researched ingredient prices, converted measurements, wrote a budget, and went shopping for ingredients. They baked on Thursday and sold their cookies on Friday. Once they repaid the loan from their teachers, the fourth grade had $100 in profit for Tzedakah, which they donated to the Wornick Chai Excellence Fund.

In the Middle School food science elective this week we made popping boba through the science of spherification!

Congratulations to 3B and 2A for reaching 100% first! Your kids will enjoy a fabulous night of fun with Dr. Gereboff and Mrs. Haire. The next two classes to reach 100% will also get to join the festivities.

Only 27% left to go to make our overall goal of 100% parent participation! Thank you to all who have already given. Help us bring in that extra $1,000 per class by making your gift at a level that is meaningful to you today.  Give here.

Lost and Found Needs You!
Please come browse through the our rack at the far end of the first floor for items that may belong to you or yours.  There are unlabeled lunch boxes, thermoses, water bottles and endless outerlayers.  We will donate all that is not claimed in January.

Words of Wisdom

Dr. Gereboff's Head Notes
What would you do if your brother did something unspeakable to you as a child?  You were not in contact with him for twenty years.  One day you find yourself in a situation where you are asking a powerful person to help you out only to learn that the person is your brother.  Read More

This past weekend, Wornick hosted our annual delegation of 22 8th-grade students and teachers from the Reali school in Haifa. The Reali students came here for a five day homestay; our Wornick 8th graders will have a homestay with the Reali students and their families when we travel to Israel in March.  Read More

Power of Words by Michal Braker, Hebrew Language Principal
This past Wednesday and Thursday, Netta Lachish, one of our very own Wornick parents, taught a drama class while speaking Hebrew during our Hebrew classes for grades K-8th.  Netta presented games and short skits in Hebrew and asked students to recreate her story and to invent their own ending all while speaking in Hebrew through drama.  Read More
